Peter Power has been a gifted athlete for many years, enjoying a truly outstanding running career, but it has been in his later years that he has recorded some remarkable racing times. He has competed over the years in International, National and Provincial road racing events.
In 2005 he placed 12th overall and 1st in the master’s category in the Detroit Free Press Marathon.
Peter has run marathon times of 2:42 and 2:48 in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and the Canadian International Marathon respectively.
Among his numerous running records is the Canadian Record of 54:05 for 10 miles in the male 50+ category set in 2014. He also holds the Canadian record of 54:37 for 10 miles in the 55+ category established five years later in 2019.
In the prestigious Tely 10 Road Race in which he has competed twenty-eight times since 1988, Peter has compiled 18 top 10 finishes and 6 top 5 finishes. In the male 50+ category he has run under the 60 minute mark 6 times.
He has ranked extremely high in all local road races in which he has competed since 1988.
In 1998 he was named male runner of the year and most improved road runner of the year.
