2009 Valentine Invitational - Indoor Track and Field Meet

AGE-CLASS CATEGORY AND AGE RESTRICTIONS

Male and Female born in 1996 and earlier. This is an OPEN meet - there are NO age-categories.

EVENTS

  • Track: 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500, 3000m
  • Field: Long Jump, Triple Jump - by invitation only
     
  • Notes:
    • A participant may compete in up to two individual events.
    • In the Long Jump each competitor is allowed three (3) trials.
    • Except in the 60 meter sprint, no qualifying rounds will be held in any event.

ELIGIBILITY

Any one individual that was born in 1996 and earlier: non-NLAA members will be charged additional fee. Please read below for more information.

Schools that have affiliated with the NLAA for the 2008/2009 school year are eligible for this meet. Students of Affiliated Schools don´t have to pay the NLAA membership or One Day Permit fees.

All other participants must be a 2009 Track and Field member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA), with a $40.00 Annual Membership, OR they must purchase a One Day Permit. The One Day Permit Fee is $1.00 for athletes born in 1996 through 1991; and $5 for athletes born in 1990 and earlier.

ENTRY FEE

  • $10 received by 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 13

Entries received after 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 13 will be accepted at the discretion of the meet director and only if there is space. Entry Fee is $15.

REGISTRATION

Schools/Clubs using Team Manager Lite can download Meet Events File from here.

  • Entry fees and waivers must accompany all entry forms
  • Please make cheques payable to NLAA - exact payment only.
  • Entries may be dropped off at the NLAA office: Room #207, Building #810, Pleasantville, St. John's. All forms must be enclosed in an envelope and exact fee must be included.
  • No telephone entries. No faxes. No entries by e-mail.
  • NO REFUNDS after the Final Deadline - 1:00 p.m., February 13, 2009
  • No Change of events OR adding a new event after the Final Deadline - 1:00 p.m., February 13, 2009
  • THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATION ON THE DAY OF THE MEET.

Participants are responsible for on-time mail delivery. It is the athlete, school and/or club´s responsibility for ensuring that the entries are received by the meet organizer by the due date. If sending entries by PRIORITY POST, please tick off the "signature not required" box.
If sending by REGISTERED MAIL - your receipt is proof that your entry has been received.

AWARDS



Individual and team scores will be kept but no awards will be presented. The top 2 finishers per school/club will score. There is no limit to the number of athletes or relay teams a school/club can enter in an event.

NUMBER BIBS

A bib number will be given to each participant, which is to be worn visibly on the chest. Athletes must pick up their bib number at the Athlete Control Center (Marshaling area) 1 hour before their event.

TECHNICAL MEETING

There will be no Technical Meeting.

Athlete Control Center (Marshaling area)

The lobby/sitting area of the Field House is designated as the Athlete Control Center. Only athletes reporting for their event are allowed in this area.

Warm-Up Area

Please use the area on the second floor of the field house for warm-up.

Competition Area

Once all athletes have been marshaled in for competition they should not leave the designated competition area without the permission of a Meet Judge.

Announcer

The Announcer will inform the public of the names and numbers of the athletes taking part in each event, and all relevant information such as the composition of the heats, lanes or stations drawn, and intermediate times. The result (placings, times, heights and distances) of each event will be announced at the earliest possible moment after receipt of the information.

Check-in and Call up procedures:

The Athlete Control Center will open forty-five (45) minutes prior to the first event and will organize the timely call up of all competitors. All athletes must report to the Athlete Control Center following the call of their event. There will be only one and Final call made prior to each event:
  • Track Events - 40 minutes
  • Field Events - 50 minutes
Ten (10) minutes after the final call all competitors will be escorted by a designated official to their competition area. Athletes arriving late, after all competitors are escorted to the competition area, will not be allowed to participate in the event and will be barred from further participation in the meet including relays.
Athletes will be checked for the following items in the marshaling area:
  • Appropriate bib numbers and footwear
  • Bags will be checked for cassette recorders, walkmans, radio´s and other portable electronic devices as they are not allowed in the competition area.

Track Footwear and Pins

No outside footwear is allowed on the track. All participants must wear indoor sneakers or gym shoes. Any shoes designed for turf sports are not allowed. Participants may not compete in their bare feet, slippers or socks.
Only athletes approved by the NLAA Office may wear track spikes (3mm). Athletes wearing spikes without permission will be disqualified and barred from further competition in the meet.
