NLAA 2010 Road Running
Timex Provincial Road Running Series
This year there are eight races in the Timex Provincial Road Race Series. To be included in the FINAL standings a runner must obtain points in at least three races. The best four races are counted for each runner in the accumulated total.
Points are awarded for the first thirty runners (male and female) with the first runner getting 33 points, the second 30 points, the third 28 points and the remaining 27 runners' scores reduced by 1 point per position so that the 30th runner receives 1 point.
Toyota Plaza Road Running Series
This year there are seventeen races across Newfoundland. The first place finisher in each category receives 10 points, the second 9 points, the third 8 points, the fourth 7 points, the fifth 6 points, the sixth 5 points, the seventh 4 points, the eight 3 points, the ninth 2 points, and the tenth and each subsequent runner gets 1 point. To be included in the FINAL standings a runner must obtain points in at least three races. The best six races are counted for each runner in the accumulated total. This year the NLAA will acknowledge the top three finishers in each category (NLAA competitive membership required) by awarding them with a special certificate.
Rankings and Standings
The NLAA Provincial 5km and 10km Road Race Rankings are compiled from all sanctioned road races held in this province. Each runner is credited with his or hers best performance and ranked accordingly.
To avoid multiple entries of the same person, names must be spelled consistently in all race results during the year. For example: if a runner signs up for a race as Bill Jogger and as William Jogger for the next race, he will appear twice in the rankings. Similar scenario will have a much greater impact in the Road Race Series Standings because points will be split between the 'two' runners.
