Robert Dollard has been involved in athletics on the west coast of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for more than 40 years, focusing primarily on cross-country running and track and field.

He has organized and officiated at numerous meets in both sports, always bringing lots of enthusiasm and giving well over 100% commitment at all times.

Over the years, he has also coached countless athletes. In the early days of his career, realizing there was no running track in the Stephenville area for the younger kids to train on, Robert had a 200-meter track built near the Stephenville Elementary School. Since this was a successful venture, he later was instrumental in having another track constructed at the Stephenville High School.

During his long career in the sport of athletics, Robert has been widely renowned as a long jump and high jump coach.

He was a founding member of the Stephenville Athletics Club and continues to serve on the Executive.

He has been a coach and co-organizer for several Stephenville and provincial track and field meets and the NL Summer Games held in Stephenville in 2008. In addition, Robert has also coached at several NL Summer Games.

He has served on the coaching staff at three Youth Royal Canadian Legion Championships and has attended at least 10 Atlantic Track and Field Championships.

Robert’s dedication to athletics has inspired numerous young athletes on the west coast of the province and continues to do so.

Robert is presently on the provincial coaching staff now, preparing for the North American Indigenous Games in Halifax in 2023.
