Who can participate?
Boys and girls born between 1996 and 2001 who qualify through a school meet.
 
How much does it cost to participate?
At the school level students should not be charged for participation. At the provincial level, schools are required to be an NLAA affiliated school. To become affiliated, you will need to hand in a 2009/2010 School affiliation form with the $20 fee before the event.
 
What forms do I need to fill out? Where do I find them?
Schools that host meets must complete the Meet Registration Form and Report Form. Each student must fill out a Waiver Form.
 
What if my child cannot make it to the school meet?
Unfortunately students need to qualify through a school meet in order to place in the top 3 for their event. Children who cannot attend the school meet cannot qualify and cannot participate in the provincial meet.
 
What time does my child need to be at the track?
It is recommended participants be at the track and ready an hour before their scheduled event. Parents and teachers should consider that there may be a line-up at the bib pickup table and that the events schedule may change throughout the day. Students should be made well aware that they will need to be there early to ensure they do not miss their event.
 
How many events can my child participate in?
A student may compete (tryout) in up to three events this may be:
Two running events (includes relays) and a field event
Two field events and a running event.
A participant may not compete in three running events.
Please be aware each participant must qualify at the school level for their event in order to participate at the provincial level.
 
How many athletes progress to the Final in the US?
To ensure fair representation of participants from all regions, a minimum of five finalists are selected from each region to be part of the team attending the North American Final. Newfoundland and Labrador are located in Region 6 which also includes: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
