Prep-Squad´09 Travel Policy
Last updated Sunday, 08th February, 2009 @ 11:07am
- All athletes must meet the NLAA Funding Policy Criteria.
- NLAA funding can only be used to cover airfare expenses.
- The NLAA Provincial Office will book all airline tickets for teams. Coaches must ensure that information regarding numbers and any special arrangements are given to the office in advance of flight bookings. Once the bookings are complete the individual will be responsible for all changes with flights.
- No air miles points may be used in lieu of payments of fees for airline tickets.
- The coach/manager becomes responsible for the athlete as soon as it is time to check in at the airport counter. Should athletes have different travel arrangements, the safety of the athlete is completely with responsibility of the parent/guardian, until arrival with the team.
- Athletes are required to travel with the team and all athlete accommodations must be in hotel, with the other athletes and coaches. Athletes will be accommodated up to 4 in a room unless otherwise stated.
- During a trip, the team may need to rent a car, a van, or secure hired bus.
- The NLAA does not carry any medical insurance. An athlete's insurance coverage must come from their own private insurance and/or MCP. Team members, including staff, must carry their MCP card at all times.
- INDIVIDUALS´EXPENSES:
- a. Athletes are responsible for personal items, proper care of their uniforms; travel to and from assembly points for the team, and proper behavior.
- b. In case of injury or illness, athletes must immediately notify the Team Staff.
- c. All provincial team athletes traveling together shall equally cost-share the cost of travel when the team is charged a group expense such as bus, ferry, air charter and ground transportation for example.
- d. All provincial team athletes shall equally cost-share the cost of group accommodations as arranged by NLAA.
- If an athlete is returned home from a competition due to gross misbehavior or illness, the parents of the athlete shall be solely responsible for any additional costs associated with this early return, including any property damages that have occurred. The parents of the athlete will be contacted with particulars of the circumstances before final arrangements are made.
- Parents will be responsible for any additional expenses incurred by their child, such as in room movies long distance, etc. Whenever possible such services will be "locked out" by the coach/manager upon arrival at the hotel.
- NLAA Team members, once selected, are expected to compete in all events they are entered in.
- Athletes must wear team track suit for travel and at the competition venue. Designated Team competition wear must be worn during competition.
- All Participation Waivers and Medials Release forms for the competition, must be received by the team manager, by set deadline, before departure.
- All monies owed to NLAA for travel to competition, must be paid in full by the stated deadline or at least three weeks prior to team departure.
- All athletes must follow the Athletes Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may result in the athletes being expelled from the team and returned home at the parents expense.
